El Chavo del 8 is a Mexican television sitcom that gained enormous popularity in Hispanic America as well as in Brazil, Spain, United States, and other countries. It centers on the adventures and tribulations of a poor orphan nicknamed "El Chavo" which means "The Boy". The sitcom is set in "La Vencindad", a typical Mexican townhouse neighborhood, and it explores, in a comic manner, the problems that many homeless children face such as hunger, sadness and not having someone responsible to watch over them. Jane the Virgin is a show on the CW. It is about a young Latina named Jane who gets accidentally artificially inseminated. As a child she was raised by both her mother and grandmother in a hispanic household. Being religious and by family tradition it is only right to vow to lose a woman's virginity until marriage. Jane the Virgin is a romantic comedy that shows the problems Jane has to face dealing with being pregnant, finishing her college education and finding love.

Gambill, Jacob (MW) Nathan For You 100

Nathan For You is an American comedy series that airs on Comedy Central. The show is set up like a documentary/reality show where we see Nathan Fielder use his degree in business and past experiences to help small, struggling businesses produce a profit. His ideas for turning the businesses around are very elaborate, and most of the time will leave you scratching your head. For example, in one episode Nathan convinces a frozen yogurt store to sell a poo flavored yogurt for an entire day, and the best part is the businesses and people involved with Nathan in each episode are real people with real reactions and he's always awkwardly trying to impress the ladies. Nathan has made national headlines with a couple stunts, including my personal favorite "Dumb Starbucks". This show is worth a watch and will have you shaking your head in disbelief on how wrong, and elaborate his business moves are and it also shows just how far people will go to save their business. The show first aired February 28, 2013 and plans to air its third season on October 15, 2015 and episodes can also be seen on Hulu and YouTube. Broad City is a comedy television series that focuses on the friendship of two Jewish girls trying to make it in Manhattan. Bechtol, Kelli (TTh) Scrotal Recall 100

Though burdened with an awful name, Scrotal Recall is a six episode British comedy that originally aired on the British station Channel 4. It is now booked as a "Netflix Original" show. The main character Dylan finds out he has an STD and has to find a way to get in touch with all the girls he has slept with in the past to tell them the news. He is accompanied by his two best friends, Evie and Luke. The show is a clever and funny take on a friendship sitcom. The episodes jump back and forth from present to past, showing many hilarious flashbacks of Dylan's sexual encounters with women. The show's raw and honest sexual discussions and blunt observations about the life of a 20 something year old make it a refreshing show to watch.

Moctezuma, Priscilla (MW) Cutthroat Kitchen 100

The Food Network television series host for Cutthroat is Alton Brown. Cutthroat Kitchen is about four chefs that are given $25,000 as an opportunity on helping themselves or to use as auction money to eliminate the other players to become Cutthroat Champion. In this show, there are three rounds and each of which has a main dish that the chefs must create within 30 minutes or less. The chefs, then have 60 seconds to collect whatever ingredients they wish from a on-stage pantry. After, Alton actions off a few sabotage items to the highest bidder. Those sabotages can be used as a disadvantage or as helpful tools upon other chefs. For that reason on the third round, sabotages are auctioned during the cooking time and not the beginning. The judges on this show are constantly changing in each episode, but known as Jet Tila, Antonia Lofaso or Simon Majumbar. Mistresses is a show about a group of four friends who leads scandalous lives in one way or another. Ellis, Brett (MW) Batman: the Animated Series 100

Produced for television by Jean H. MacCurdy and Tom Ruegger, Batman:the Animated Series is an old stand-by for contemporary fans of the Batman franchise. The basic concept tells the story of Bruce Wayne, billionaire, playboy philanthropist and his crime-fighting alter-ego, Batman. Batman goes on villain of the day adventures, stopping old classic villains like the Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy, but also fights villains original to the show, like Harley Quinn and Lock-Up. The story goes for a very film-noir look and is one of the few television programs that uses real guns and more gritty imagery. The variety of the villains and the creativity of the concepts makes for a great show for ages 12 and up and has aged very well throughout the years.

The MTV series Awkward, makes you want to go back to high school all over again, specifically Palos Hills High School. It first aired July 19, 2011, it has all the boy drama, snobby cheerleaders, and of course the awkward turned beautiful girl, which the show revolves around. Through the years it shows Jenna's life from awkward freshman that everyone thought committed suicide to the girl dating the hottest guy in school, Matty Mckibben. This show is about Rookie Correctional officers in a New Mexico prison, one of the toughest in the nation. It follows rookie year correctional officers and how they handle criminals, or learn to handle them.
The officers are taught to defend themselves and where to look for weapons (it is kind of gross.) You will also see who lasts at the job and who doesn't. Season one just came out and you can still find episodes on A&E. the executive producer is John Hirsch of Lucky8 t.v. They are an unscripted television production company. They also produce "Lockdown" on NatGeo which basically follows the lives of people in prison.

I would like to show the class the new crime drama television series called Narcos. It just debuted on Netflix August 28, 2015. It is the real-life story of Colombian cocaine drug lord Pablo Escobar and police efforts to catch him. The first season consists of 10 episodes. Narcos, was created by Chris Brancato, Carlos Bernard and Doug Miro. As soon as I saw the first episode, I was hooked.... I can't stop watching! It is a great series, filled with crime, action, and drama! I really love that the series shows real documents, videos, pictures and presents us with several real life facts of Pablo Escobar throughout the episodes. It is crazy to see the cartels and the police in a constant bloody battle that never seems to end.

If you've ever seen the Scream movies, you know it's a cliche slasher movie that pokes fun at cliche slasher movies. MTV decided to turn this idea into a TV series, stretching the first season into ten episodes.

Turning a slasher movie into a TV series makes it much easier to grow attached to more characters, as there aren't just one or two main ones involved and it's stretched over a longer period of time. One of the characters even claims, "You can't do a slasher movie as a TV series. Slasher movies burn bright and fast." This show gives a new life (and mask) to the Scream movies.

The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, also known as Awkward Black Girl, is a web series following the fictitious life of the main character, J. In order to cope with her awkwardness, J likes to write humorous and violent rap lyrics.

The 100 is a Sci-Fi TV series on the CW network that has a spin off towards the survival of humanity. The plot of the series begins with a space station named "The Ark" which is the place where the remainder of the human species lives. In this "ark" there is a prison of 100 people; these 100 are all criminals that have committed a crime against any sort of authority. Since this is a CW show, most of the criminals are attractive and athletic teenagers. The main dilemma of the series is that the Earth is inhabitable in The Ark's eyes, and they ship the prisoners to earth every 10 years to see if the Earth is still inhabitable. The people have landed and drama has already begun.

The show is setup as if it were a legitimate talk show, but it is the complete opposite. Over The Garden Wall was a Cartoon Network mini-series created and produced by Patrick McHale. After he worked on the network's previous shows (Adventure Time, Flapjack) they decided to fund it as a mini-series and air it over the course of one week as the network's Halloween special for 2014. Taking strong influence from classic cartoons dating back to 1923's "Alice's Wonderland" Over The Garden Wall balances quirky comedy and musical tie-ins common in modern cartoons with some very dark themes and eerie imagery. Multiple meanings are also inherent to the story, leading a second or third watching of it to be just as entertaining and thought-provoking as the first. The final episodes even reveal perspective-changing details to the audience that ensure they will never look at the previous episodes the same way again. Kingin with Tyga is a show that follows the life of the Rapper "Tyga" and shows how he spends his days. It blows my mind to watch this show and see all the crazy things that he buys. The show I chose is called Oddities. It premiered on the Discovery Channel and played on it's sister channel, The Science Channel. I however, found it while binging on netflix; so it's both a subscription-paid show as well as a advertiser-based network. The executive producers are David George and Brent Montgomery and the show aired in November of 2010

Oddities is a show that follows two Manhattan shop owners named Evan and Mike. The shop is called Obscura if that gives you an idea of what they sell. Evan and Mike, along with their buyer Ryan, go all around the city looking for the most odd keep sakes and nick-naks. On one episode you may see a fossilized cat and in another you may see an embalming machine from the old days. You can watch this show forhours because it never get's boring. You never know what Evan and Mike will find next. Along the way they give you a brief history lesson on whatever their dealing with. It's a way to learn about some things you may have never thought about.

I felt this clip was a perfect example on how it's more than just another pawn shop show, it's obscure.

Documentary Now! is an American mockumentary series that parodies the styles of many popular documentaries, poking fun at certain styles. You can see them realistically spoofing VICE documentaries in an episode about a fictitious drug lord. Each episode is a different parody, containing different gags and hilarious mockery. The show could be compared to another similar show called Portlandia where they spoof the lives of many Portland young, hip residents.

The series stars Portlandia star Fred Armisen, SNL star Bill Hader, and talk show host Seth Myers. The show just premiered on August 20, 2015 and is featured on IFC.

This Netflix original series is a comedy about two women, Grace and Frankie, who find out their husbands have been romantically involved secretly for 20 years. When their husbands finally tell them, Grace and Frankie must cope with this life altering news. It's a really modern show with two polar opposite characters. Grace is a retired cosmetic mogul, while Frankie is a hippie art teacher.

The executive producers are Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, who created the series. Jane Fonda, who plays Grace, and Lily Tomlin, who plays Frankie, are also producers.

Producer is a comedic South Korean TV drama that follows four characters who work for a one of the largest broadcasting stations in South Korea, KBS. Baek Seung Chan is the lead male who has just been hired in the KBS entertainment and variety department and must deal with his stubborn and outspoken boss while balancing a somewhat non-existent love life.
Everything about the drama is real except for the characters acting out certain situations and love-lines. Producer is based on what real South Korean variety show PD's, editors, scriptwriters, and more have to do at KBS including dealing with broadcast cancellations, citations, successes, and program planning.
Producer is amazing and it literally outlines what I want to do in the future!

Danger 5 is one of the most ridiculous shows I've seen. It is an Australian comedy series that takes place during World War II, but it is also a spoof of the 60's spy/action genre. The premise for each episode has the same basic plot, a group of Allied spies, Danger 5, try to stop Hitler from taking over the world. On their missions, the team encounter many unique enemies such as Japanese robot pilots, bullet proof soldiers made of diamond, and Nazi dinosaurs. The second season was released earlier this year, and the producers haven't said anything about continuing the series.

Umana, Veronica (TTh) Wayward Pines 100

Wayward Pines stars Matt Dillon, Melissa Leo, and Terrance Howard, and is based on Blake Crouch's trilogy of Wayward Pines novels. It takes us to a town in Idaho with a dark and scary past. While investigating a missing person's case, secret service agent, Ethan Burke, finds himself trapped in a strange town after awaking from a car accident in the hospital. Although he tries several times to escape and leave the town, he finds that all roads lead him back to where he began. The town is seen to be "perfect" and "safe" just as long as you play by the rules. We soon discover that a large wall fences in all residents in Wayward Pines, Idaho and what lies beyond those walls is scarier than you could have ever imagined.

Peaky Blinders is British historical crime drama television series that first aired on BBC Two. It stars Cillian Murphy as a gangster operating in Birmingham, England in the early 1900s and shortly after World War I has ended. Tom Hardy stars in the second series as well. Peaky Blinders was created and written by Steven Knight and has a number of directors. I'm a huge fan of this series due to the historical accuracy and the grittiness each episode. Each character is quite dynamic making this a very entertaining and quality series.

Each rookie is assigned a training officer, and they all have to deal with life on and off the job. There are 5 complete seasons, and they are currently airing the sixth one in the US on ABC. I watched all 5 seasons in 4 days. I was completely blown away by each episode. It is one of my favorite shows because it has a little bit of everything: drama, romance, comedy, action, and suspense. It is not your normal "cop" television show. It is one of the best. It was created by Tassie Cameron, Morwyn Brebner, and Ellen Vanstone. It stars Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Ben Bass, Matt Gordon, and many other phenomenal actors and actresses. They have covered so much of real life events on the show that are actually happening today. For example, in one episode one of the rookies shot a kid at a convenience store in self defense. No one believed it was self defense, and he was very close to being charged with murder. I've heard about cases similar to this one, and it was hard to imagine what police officers have to go through on a daily basis until I watched that particular episode. It is a show that will definitely open the viewer's eyes.

Grosch, Allison (TTH) Lie to Me 100

Lie to Me is an American television midseason replacement that premiered on the FOX television network on January 21, 2009. The main character, Dr. Cal Lightman (played by Tim Roth), aided by his colleague, Dr. Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams), detects deception by observing body language and micro-expressions through the Facial Action Coding System. By using this talent they assist clients (such as law enforcement) to determine when a person is lying and why. Dr. Lightman's special set of skills also make it easier for him to deceive others.

Munoz, Sebastian (TTH) Adventure Time 100

Adventure Time is an American show on Cartoon Network created by Pendleton Ward. It's a series that follows adventures with Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada) a human boy and his best friend Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio) a dog that can change shape size grow and shrink at will. Along the way they interact with other main characters such as Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, Marceline the Vampire Queen.

Perez, Matthew (TTh) Ballers 10

Ballers is a HBO orginal series that is created by Stephen Levinson, which is the same person that also created the hit HBO tv series shows Entourage and Boardwalk Empire. The main character Spencer Strasmore, played by "The Rock Dwayne Johnson," is a ex NFL football player that is trying to seek the same success in his post career by tackling the job of a financial manager for current players in the league. The show is raw, uncut, and gives a insight to what maybe really goes on in football players lives on and off the field. The series also is excutive produced by a number of people including Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Dany Garcia, Evan Reilly, and Rob Weis. I really recommend this show because it's a comedy that is also infused with enough drama surrounding the supporting characters that keeps bringing viewers back in. If you haven't seen Ballers, it can be accessed on HBO or HBO on demand.

Laughlin, Nicholas (MW) Thank You and Sorry 100

Thank You and Sorry is a new docu-series that follows Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff. The series is an original to Google Play, and features real events from tour life, and well as made up situations. Guest stars include girlfriend and Girls show runner Lena Dunham, Colin Quinn, and Olivia Wilde. Each episode focuses on a city from Bleachers tour and song from their album Strange Desire. We learn the inspiration for certain songs from the album and what it means to Antonoff. The web series has been nominated for a Streamy Award, and Antonoff plans to do this with every album Bleachers produces.

I think this series is a very different and interesting show. There is nothing else that is like it currently on television or any other streaming service. I think it could be an interesting way for artists to reach out to fans.

This series explores young love, mystery and justice in the context of a past case which due to the podcast was brought back to the Supreme Court for special appeals.

Thornton, Kelsi (MW) BBC In The Flesh 100

Set in the fictional village of Roarton, Lancashire, the show beings after "The Rising" (a zombie apocalypse). During The Rising, deceased teenager Kieren Walker and thousands of other people who died in 2009 were re-animated as rabid zombies. The re-animated people were hunted down during "The Pale Wars" by armed militias. A medication was found to bring consciousness back to the undead, returning their minds to who they were before dying. The undead that were not killed by the militias were then rounded up and were given medication and rehabilitation by the government in a plan to reintroduce them to society. They are given contact lenses, cosmetics, and daily injections of medication to help them conceal their deceased status. They are officially referred to as sufferers of Partially Deceased Syndrome (PDS), and pejoratively known as "rotters". Many are haunted by returning memories of the atrocities they committed while rabid. In the village of Roarton, PDS sufferers face prejudice from the villagers upon their return. In The Flesh has 2 seasons.

Twinning is a new VH1 series that gathered 12 sets of identical twins to test their "twin tuition". The twins mentally and physically compete to stay in the game. The twins are separated in two houses, one twin will go to the blue house and the other to the green they only see each other during competition days, they have no electronics they only have themselves to entertain each other which brings about a lot of drama. Twinning's producers include Howard Schultz, Rob LaPlante, Jeff Spangler and is it brought to us by Lighthearted entertainment. The tv series aired on July 22, 2015 and it is still being showed on VH1 every Wednesday.

De La Garza, Alexis (MW) Vixen 100

Vixen is an upcoming web series (it premieres August 25, 2015) on the CW Seed (CW's online-only network) based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It takes place within the same universe as the CW's Flash and Arrow, and stars Megalyn Echikunwoke as Mari McCabe/Vixen, a young woman who discovers a family heirloom that allows her to transform and gain the powers of different animals. It is produced by Marc Guggenheim, who is part of the creative team behind Arrow, as well.

So think of the show the bachelor, but everything that goes on behind the cameras. The dramas, the cat fights, producers, directors and what extent they go to-to make an incredible show with high ratings. I find this show so interesting and intriguing because I have a passion for production and putting on a show so I really took a liking to this!
