Catfish is a reality TV series currently airing on MTV that explores the growing "catfish" epidemic that is sweeping the digitally driven nation. A "catfish" is referred to as a person on the internet that creates a false identity by using an alias and stealing other people's pictures to use on their fake social media accounts. These "catfish" often seek out other fish in the sea to create false relationships with. Often times these people they reel in fall in love with them and are claimed to be in an online relationship. Filmed in the style of a documentary, hosts and producers Nev Schulman and Max Joseph answer to teenagers' cry for help in unraveling the truth behind the person behind the screen.
