Reply 1988 is about five kids who grew up together in the same neighborhood with their families, in Ssangmun-dong. Each kid has a different background and family status. The main character is Duk-seon who is a high schooler and lives with her parents, older sister and younger brother. Among her friends, her family is the poorest. Jung-hwan is the richest of the group, but his personality drives the girls away.
Wisdom, Garrett (TTh) Rules of Engagement 25
Rules of Engagement is a sit-com made in the late 2000's and early 2010's that relates with two other more popular sit-coms, "Friends" and "How I Met Your Mother". The show is based around a group of friends that all portray different takes on relationships. On one hand you are introduced to a married couple of twelve years who's obviously pass the honeymoon stage, while on the other hand you have a younger, more modern, couple who quickly got engaged not long after meeting and is trying to learn everything on the fly. The two couples different takes on marriage intertwining with each other can be complicated enough but, you have the third take still. David Spade plays the role of the older bachelor who doesn't seem to want to grow up and definitely puts his 2 cents in all the "marriage" and dating matters.

In a world that's getting increasingly absurd by the minute, Adult Swim's "Joe Pera Talks with You" is a program that focuses on appreciating the smaller things in life. Joe Pera, who plays a fictionalized version of himself, takes the viewer through seemingly mundane situations and makes them special through his soft-spoken humor and unique perspective. Such situations include: reading church announcements, going to the grocery store, and building a chair. While most Adult Swim programs may be crude and edgy, "Joe Pera Talks with You" is a stark contrast as its tone is sincere and free of cynicism. It's a wholesome, feel-good show that has been compared to "Mr.Roger's Neighborhood" and "The Joy of Painting". Pera's interest in everyday life is sure to charm its viewers and its clever writing will provide laughs along the way. All three seasons of the show are available to stream on HBO Max.

With him failing to fulfil his purpose, a girl with pink hair comes crashing and red horns comes in to change everything.

Dan Vs. is a comedy show that is about the main protagonist Dan. But, instead of being a nice and worthy protagonist, he is a cranky and rude person, who thinks that everyone and everything is against him. There are two side characters which includes Dans best friend Chris and her wife Elise. Every episode is a wacky and wild ride when you see Dan try to face off some of his fears or just things and people that he thinks are making his life harder. A young talented chef who comes from the world of fine dining has to return home to run his brother's beef sandwich shop after his older brother's unsuspected suicide. The main character, Camry, "Bear" (Jeremy Allen White) has to take on the task of making his brother's failing business a success. Carmy unfortunately not only gets handed a failed business but a ton of debt and a very dysfunctional crew who he tries to teach the ways of the fine dining industry. The show is a dark comedy full of drama that deals with a tense, anxiety-driven work environment with the stress and emotional trauma of losing a loved one. The Bear season 1 is now streaming on Hulu and FX.
Lopez, Robert (TTh) The Rehearsal 50
The Rehearsal is an exploration on human nature, relationships, and the fear that comes with them. Without giving away too much, the basis of the show is that Nathan Fielder gives people the option to rehearse whatever scenario they want over and over. Once they have the rehearsal nailed down, they go into the actual scenario and let it play out, hopefully exactly how they planned. The show blurs the line between reality and fiction and shows just how easy one can be the other.

The audience first gets to see Rory as this bookworm and goody two-shoes until she is hit with the reality of having her first love. Rory journeys through the struggles of being a new girl at school, trying to navigate a new relationship, and keeping her relationship with her mom the number one priority in her life. Almost every episode with see the beloved side characters to Lorelai and Rory's life including, Luke Danes, the diner owner who secretly has a thing for Lorelai, Michel Gerard, the hilariously sarcastic and grumpy French man that works the front desk at the inn with Lorelai, Lane Kim, Rory's best friend who loves to keep things a secret from her strict mother, and Paris Geller, Rory's feisty school frenemy. Hightown is a crime and drama set in Provincetown, Massachusetts. It follows a few different characters. The main character is Jackie Quinones played by Monica Raymond. She is a fishery services agent who one day discovers a dead body on the beach after a night of hard partying. She is also an alcoholic who constantly struggles with her drinking and addiction issues throughout the show. The show ultimately deals with drugs being dealt with in Provincetown leading to an increasing number of deaths as well as substance abuse issues that a few characters in the show face.

Castle is a crime-mystery/comedy-drama about a mystery writer named Rick Castle who is inspired by Detective Kate Beckett to create his next set of novels based off her. He gets special permission from the mayor to shadow her while she's on the job so that he can write his new book series. Castle and Beckett's characters are pretty much total opposites, so they oftentimes clash, but because of Castle's knowledge of murder and death from his research, he proves to be helpful to Beckett and her team. The series focuses on the many messed up cases they have to solve and the budding romance between the two.

The Hulu original "Normal People" is an Irish romantic drama based off the 2018 book written by Salley Rooney. It follows Marianne and Connell, two people who grow up together in a small Irish town, but come from completely different backgrounds. This 10 episode series takes place over the course of 5 years, so you get to watch the characters come of age and all the struggles that come along with independence. It follows them from their senior year of high school all the way to post-college graduation. These two deeply damaged people's connection develops over the course of the show, and past traumas that have shaped these characters are ultimately revealed in their intense relationship.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most influential anime of all time. With its brisk 26-episode arc, it is an easy watch and beautiful on the eyes. Shinji is a loser in the far distant future of…….. 2016, where giant monsters dubbed angels attack earth and he must operate a giant "machine"( its real nature is one of the best parts of the show) to fight off the angels to prevent the third impact aka the end of the world. With beautiful visuals, genuinely great storytelling, and themes of religion throughout. It is a very easy watch and you will literally only be positively impacted by watching it vs before having not seen it.

Karasuno's volleyball club has fallen off since the era of The Tiny Giant. They have gained the nickname "The Wingless Crows" in reference to their mascot. As we watch the team's journey to regain their former reputation as national contenders, we fall in love with each member of the team and dive into their backstories. Including Tobio Kageyama, who (despite initially hating Hinata), becomes a key part to Hinata's success on the court. This underdog story brings an unmatchable energy and passion to the sport of volleyball and the players who fight for their spot on the court.

Brinkman, Phillip (TTh) Man in the Arena: Tom Brady 50
Man in the Arena is a sports documentary series about Tom Brady reflecting on each of his 10 Super Bowl appearance seasons. The documentary deconstructs the milestones of his career by exploring each victory and defeat. The series allows the viewer to have a better understanding on the person Brady is and the perseverance he dealt with during his career. Brady despite being front, and center shows and understanding of how football is a team game, and how working as a team is what lead him to being one of the most accomplished football players in history. The series follows how Brady went from being an underdog who was drafted with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL draft, to becoming the greatest quarterback of all time. In the docuseries Brady shows introspection on what methods and processes he used to work towards improving. "The Living and the Dead" is a drama show with supernatural and horror undertones. It follows the story of Nathan Appleby, a young psychologist (played by Colin Morgan) and his wife Charlotte (played by Charlotte Spencer) as they move to Nathans family's estate in the English countryside after his mother falls ill and soon death. As the new head of house, Nathan is tasked with caring for the people within the community who are plagued by phenomena that could be of the mind or supernatural. The conflicts between supernatural and science create tensions between not only Nathan and the townsfolk, but Nathan and his wife. This show is full of amazing cinematography, phenomenal acting, and one of the most mind-blowing twists I've ever seen in a TV show. Created by Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, Jump Street film franchise) the show follows a new person being interviewed every episode, and each episode is filmed and written in a different genre spanning from a musical, an action movie parody, and even an animated episode. The story slowly unfolds as the series progresses and the viewer learns about the connections each person has with each other and who the murderer could be.

Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness discusses in-depth questions about things he is curious about. Each episode introduces a new topic where he talks to experts in that specific field. The topics range from information about bugs all the way to why hair is so important to people. This show is light-hearted as well as inspiring and moving. It also takes a modern twist on how to be more supportive of trans and non-binary individuals. This series does a great job of being informative about gender nonconforming people, which I think is unique because it is not often the host of a show is non-binary. Manzanarez, Anayah (MW) Jeen-Yuhs: A Kayne Trilogy 50
Jeen-yuhs is a documentary shot by Coodie, who came to be one of Kanye's closest friends. This project shows their relationship of over two decades while they both come up in the industry. Coodie follows Kayne as an up-and-coming music producer/rapper throughout his career and documents it along the way. A couple things it showcases is when Kayne got signed, his struggles of being taken serious as a rapper, and one of the most inspiring things: his determination. Throughout the film we can see behind the scenes footage, his upbringing , and the talks with his mother. As much as he is hated by some, he is loved by many, and the film gives insight on how this man came to exist.

As you would expect, this leads to many fun adventures full of crazy antics, absurd humor, and even some heartfelt moments. At first glance Smiling Friends might seem like an average adult cartoon, but when watching you will realize that it is truly something special as it pushes the envelope of the medium with witty dialogue and experimental animation. Smiling Friends is available to stream on HBO Max and is already renewed for a second season which will premiere on Adult Swim.

Jujustu Kaisen is an anime about a teenager named Yuji Itadori, who embarks on a mission to rid himself and the world of a very powerful curse. A student from the Jujutsu Kaisen High school is sent to search for the fingers of a demon known as Sukuna, the strongest curse that exists and which attracts all weaker curses to the fingers that are in unknown locations; and finds one at Yuji's high school. After the finger attracts other curses that kill one of Yuji's friends, Yuji swallows the finger to protect his remaining friends and becomes the host of that demon. It is discovered that Yuji can control the magic inherited from the demon, without interference from the demon possessing him. Being the first able to do this, Yuji enters a shaman's school to be able to locate the demon's other body parts and thus exercise himself.

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War is a Japanese animated cartoon that takes a different approach to the romantic-comedy genre. The story takes place in a high school in Japan and details the complicaed love story between two intelligent student council members. The student council President, Shirogane, and the Vice President, Kaguya both feel very deeply for each other but constantly try to find new strategies that will make the other confess their love for them first. The amount of effort that is taken to win this game makes this a fun and charming show to watch.

Half and Half is an early 2000's sitcom featuring two half-sisters, Mona and Dee Dee. Although they share a dad, they weren't very close growing up. In their mid 20's, they live in the same apartment building and begin to build a relationship although their outstanding differences. Dee Dee grew up with their dad and was very affluent, while Mona was raised by a single mother and struggled financially. Throughout the duration of the show, the two girls confront their past resentment towards one another, learn what it's like to have a sister, and maneuver life's daily troubles together. This show is a Apple Plus exclusive. It is a loosely based fiction, set during the Cold War and Space Race. It deals with civil rights along with women's rights. Unlike the real world the Soviets beat us to the moon and were also the first to put a woman on the moon. Everything looked lost till they discovered there was water on the moon. President Nixon was mad that the Soviets were beating us so he said the US would be the first to put a base on a moon. Eventually they did. In the second season is set 10 years later, the Cold War and Space Race are still going and the Soviets and USA both have bases on the moon. The US send Marines to be security because the soviets took a mining operation. Eventually they confront the soviets and shoot them. One dies but another survives and wants to defect to the US. Russia is mad and they attack the moon base along with setting up a blockade of the moon because they found out the US was sending nuclear warheads to the moon. War is about to erupt but US and Soviet astronauts do a peaceful handshake in space on live TV and that stops all the escalation. The next stop is Mars. I strongly recommend watching this.

Murderville is an improv comedy show available on Netflix. The show aired on February 3, 2022 and currently has one season with six episodes. Emmy nominated comedian Will Arnett plays Detective Terry, a witty yet bipolar detective that needs extra help on the newest homicide case. Terry hires a new celebrity guest each episode to be a trainee detective and to help solve the case. Throughout the show, the guest celebrity is introduced to three potential suspects and is challenged to find the killer. They must find their answers through improv and decide who the killer is at the end of the episode. Big name celebrities such as Conan O'Brien, Kim Jeong and Kumail Nanjiani are featured as guests on the show. The series is based on Murder in Successville, a British comedy series that followed the same guest celebrity improv premise.

Paranoia Agent is an anime by late Japanese director, Satoshi Kon. The story begins in Musashino, Tokyo, and follows a strange series of events in this thirteen-episode psychological thriller. A mysterious figure is causing massive upheaval in the otherwise peaceful society of Tokyo. Referred to affectionately as Lil Slugger, the public is captivated by this violent juvenile as he beats victims to near death with his crooked, golden bat. The story follows each of his victims, seemingly unrelated, yet there is a thinnest of threads to follow that connects each of them together. A thread that two detectives must find, as Lil Slugger terror on Tokyo heightens to extreme proportions. Paranoia agent is a social commentary on mental trauma, isolation, self-victimization, and the sick fascination society has with brutal acts of violence.

Alice in Borderland is a Japanese live-action fantasy thriller based on a three-episode manga. It takes place in a parral Tokyo after a group of three friends, Ryōhei Arisu, Chōta Segawa, and Daikichi Karube, is transported to the world after hiding in a train station bathroom from the police. When the friends leave the bathroom they find Tokyo deserted and are directed to a building where they must play dangerous games to survive. The games each have a level determined by the type of card presented at the beginning of the game. After playing the game, and surviving, the players are allowed to live a certain amount of days without playing by being given a 'visa' another name for the card collected at the beginning of the game. The more difficult the game, the longer they get to live without playing again. However, if they refuse to play, they are immediately killed by a red laser from the sky shooting down and making their head combust.

This show is on HBO Max exclusively. It is set directly after The Suicide Squad, it follows anti-hero Peacemaker, who is played by John Cena, after he awakens in the hospital after being shot at the end of The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker is recruited by a secret government organization to help save the world from the invasive alien species known as "Butterflies" which takes over a host's body. In this show, anybody could be the bad guy. This show is a hilarious no holds barred comedy-drama mix. If superhero TV shows or movies aren't your thing, I'd still recommend giving this a watch.

Everything Sucks! is set in 1996 at Boring High School in Oregon and follows two groups of teenagers. When the school play is canceled due to set destruction, Luke and his friends offer that the AV Club and Drama Club collaborate on a film that would be broadcasted to the entire school. Meanwhile, Luke is dealing with the discovery of VHS tapes recorded by his father before abandoning him and his mother. Following a discussion regarding Luke in the principal's office, Luke's mother, Sherry, grows close to Ken, Kate's father, and the principal of Boring.

We see him getting into all sorts of odd situations as he tries to change who he is in desperate attempts to win the affection of whatever girl he's fallen in love with that episode. Power book 2 starts a little after the original series ends, in this series Tariq is dealing with the aftermath of having killed his father. His mother is being charged for the murder of his father, all the while going into his first year at an Ivy League school, while still being in tangled in the drug business to help pay legal fees. In the series Tariq tries to balance his drug operation with his grades, love life, and family. He realizes that the only way to avoid his father's fate is to become him.

Griffith, Annie (MW) Reprisal 50
Reprisal is a show on Hulu that entails the production of revenge in a classy yet violent way. The show is based around Burt's Bang a Rang, a warehouse speakeasy in the Midwest that is full of pinups and booze and is operated by the Brawlers gang. Burt's sister, Katherine, was left for dead after confronting her brother for betraying his gang to frame their rival gang, the Ghouls. Katherine goes on to obtain a new identity and years later instills her ploy for revenge. The plot entangles with gore as the episodes reveal more about the neighboring gangs and their dynamic with the Brawlers. Reprisal is a show about a female heroine that utilizes patience and her underestimated femininity to seek justice. This show obtains your full attention with nearly edible cinematography and timely context that displays the strength and capability of women through a masculine yet sometimes raunchy lens.
Berlanga, Alberto (TTh) Serial Experiments Lain 50
Serial Experiments Lain is an animated show from Japan that ran from July to September of 1998. It tells the story of Lain, an introverted middle-schooler, who develops an unhealthy obsession with the internet following a series of cryptic e-mails from her supposedly dead classmate. From that point on the show becomes progressively more surreal as the chronology of the episodes shifts around in unexpected ways and the narrator becomes increasingly unreliable. This is a very interesting and unique watch that I'd recommend to anyone who would like to experience a different type of show. In its short 13 episode run the show tackles a variety of themes such as existentialism, identity, and artificial intelligence. Its jarring how well this 1998 program predicted the effects social media would have on people's minds and interactions and anybody who is interested in that topic owes it to themselves to watch this show, it is a very short watch and it has all been uploaded to YouTube in HD for free.

Fruits Basket (2019) is the newest anime adaptation of Natsuki Takaya's manga. This supernatural romantic comedy follows the selfless Tohru Honda, a teenage girl known for her contagious optimism and the Sohmas, a family riddled with secrets and generational trauma. After losing her mother, and not wanting to bother her grandfather while his house is under renovations, the essentially homeless Tohru is taken in by Shigure Sohma, rent free, on the grounds that she provides domestic labor. However, her responsibilities grow as it is revealed that the Sohmas are cursed- with 13 members being possessed by the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, plus the Cat. Those who are possessed cannot embrace or be embraced by a person of the opposite gender, lest they turn into the animal they are possessed by. Tension builds as news about Tohru spreads throughout the Sohma family- can she be trusted with such a secret? Be prepared to laugh and cry as Tohru meets the rest of the Sohma family, rises up to face the antagonistic head of the Sohma family, and tries to find a way to lift the Curse once and for all. The 2019 reboot and the original 2001 anime are both available on Hulu with a basic subscription, and both shows follow the same basic premise, however the reboot is both longer and more loyal to the source material.

The Chosen is a Loaves & Fishes production that goes through the account of Jesus' life and was produced by Angel Studio. It is from the viewpoint of the apostles so it really shows what living with the guidance of Jesus was like and how to be a disciple of Christ. The Chosen is relatively new, so they have not gone through the entire account of his life yet but what they have done is really cool and inspiring for Christians everywhere. Another cool thing about this show is that it is free for anyone to watch as long as you have a device. They produced all the episodes based on donations to make sure it is free for everyone.

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song is an original anime series created by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara and produced by the iconic Wit Studios. After decades of research into the creation of self-sufficient androids, humanity integrated artificial intelligence into all aspects of life. Every android with AI is programmed with one "mission" and the protagonist Vivy's mission is to bring happiness to humans by performing songs at an AI theme park. She is at peace until a robot from the future (Matsumoto) tells her that her park is ground zero for the extinction of humanity. Together the two locate the points on the timeline that lead to the eradication and attempt to stop it.

Pretty Smart is a show on Netflix with some familiar actors/actresses, like Emily Osment and Gregg Sulkin. In this show, Chelsea reunites with her sister in Los Angeles and ends up moving in with her sister and her sister's friends. The rest of the show includes Chelsea trying to adjust to this new life, create friendships, and possibly even fall in love.

Parasyte is an anime television series based off the Parasyte manga written by Hitoshi Iwaaki. Parasites slowly begin to take over human's minds on earth, thus having control over their whole body. The parasites then butcher and kill humans in their path. The show follows a high school boy whose hand becomes possessed by a parasite. The parasite, Migi, did not successfully take over the boy's, Schinichi Izumi, brain, so the two have separate streams of consciousness. Migi and Schinichi find themselves in a battle against other parasites who butcher humans.

He takes a part time job at a fast food restaurent in order to make it in the non magic modern world in efforts to find his magic again and destroy the Heroes once and for all.

Dollhouse is an American science fiction series that explores identity and personhood. The show revolves around an organization called "The Dollhouse," a place that erases the memories and personalities of those who volunteer themselves and turns them into "actives." These actives are then given personas corresponding to the needs of the organization's wealthy and powerful clients. These needs include things such as heists, expert counseling, sexual gratification, and other things. Echo, the series protagonist, is an active that stands out through her ability to remember snippets of her past as well as being the personas that were once imprinted over her mind. This difference is what spurs her own development as she struggles to find her own authentic sense of identity.

Beforeigners is a Norweigan Sci-Fi/Crime series streaming on HBO Max and Hulu. This show revolves around the mysterious phenomena of people from different time periods of the past, as far back as the Viking days reappearing in an Oslo bay during present day, and the prejudice, and challenges faced while integrating into modern day life. We also follow the main character Lars, and his time working with one of the "beforeigners" Alfhildr". This show only has one season currently streaming but a second one is under production.

"Pacific Rim: The Black" is a Mecha and Cyborg anime series, that falls within the same universe of the Pacific Rim movies. It was released during the current year of 2021, with a total of seven episodes, and can be found on Netflix. The setting of the show follows closely with the movie as the new giant monsters known as Kaiju, emerge out of nowhere and start wrecking immediate havoc.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a Marvel show that released this year in Disney+. The show is 6 episodes long and it takes place after the movie "Avengers Endgame" in which we follow Sam Wilson and James Buchanan Barnes also known as the falcon and the winter soldier. The show lets you know these characters in a deeper level and gives you an insight of their personal problems/struggles while also they attempt to stop a new organization called the Flag Smashers. Filled with plenty of action and thrilling scenes this show also tackles on a few real political struggles and in some cases racial discrimination. However, after a battle between a demon and elder dragon takes place, Davian helps the dragon and slays the demon. Mortally wounded, the dragon kills Davian and merges with his body to stay alive. Found by an exiled princess and her mute assistant, Davian joins them on their journey to retrieve stolen lotuses, while also struggling to find his own answers.

Star Wars Rebels is an animated tv series on Disney+ set 5 years before the Movie Star Wars: A New Hope. This show deals with the aftermath of order 66, as most of the Jedi have been killed, some are still in hiding. That is the case for Kanan Jarrus, one of the few Jedis who survived order 66 and has been on the run, ends up running into Ezra Bridger, a teenager who ends up being force sensitive. Together, along with Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, and Chopper, an astromech droid, their main purpose is to hinder the operations of the newly formed galactic empire, thus being a spark for what would eventually be known as the Rebellion.

The Silence is a British television crime drama-thriller mini-series, and it was the first broadcast on BBC One in 2010. It is now on Acorn TV and Tubi, owned by Fox Corporation. It consists of only four episodes in which it follows the story of a deaf 18-year-old girl, Amelia (Genevieve Barr), who struggles to fit in a hearing world ensuing a cochlear implant surgery. However, her whole life becomes a life-and-death situation when she witnesses the murder of a policewoman, prompting the unwilling teen into a din of police corruption, drugs and alcohol, disloyalty, and murder. The beast "Vincent Keller" who is played by Jay Ryan was used as an experiment when he was in the military and the experiment went wrong so now, he is half man and half beast. The detective "Catherine Chandler" who is played by Kristin Kreuk takes him in and cares for him after many people have turned on him and wanted to use him only for projects (their own gain). They both end up falling for each other, but they must hide what they have going on because if people find out who Vincent is then there will be chaos. Even though their relationship is different they both love each other a lot. The producers are Michael Maschio, Thom Pretak, Roger Grant, Kevin Lafferty, and Mairzee Almas.
