Gilmore Girls introduces a young, single mother, Lorelai Gilmore, and her 16-year-old daughter, Rory Gilmore, in a very small and very unique town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The mother and daughters' relationship are one like no other due to their quippy banter which makes the show so fun to watch. The audience quickly discovers that Lorelai grew up in a rich home with her parents, Richard and Emily, but felt very suffocated by that lifestyle, especially after getting pregnant at 16 years old. Therefore, she has much ambition to make something of herself without her parents help like having a dream to open her own inn with her best friend, Sookie St. James. The audience first gets to see Rory as this bookworm and goody two-shoes until she is hit with the reality of having her first love. Rory journeys through the struggles of being a new girl at school, trying to navigate a new relationship, and keeping her relationship with her mom the number one priority in her life. Almost every episode with see the beloved side characters to Lorelai and Rory's life including, Luke Danes, the diner owner who secretly has a thing for Lorelai, Michel Gerard, the hilariously sarcastic and grumpy French man that works the front desk at the inn with Lorelai, Lane Kim, Rory's best friend who loves to keep things a secret from her strict mother, and Paris Geller, Rory's feisty school frenemy.
