Motherland: Fort Salem follows three young women through basic training in combat magic into early deployment in an alternate America where witches overcame their persecution nearly 300 years ago by signing a pact with the U.S. government to fight for their country. The usual roles of gender and power are reversed in this world, with the more powerful women combating familiar terrorist threats on the front lines using supernatural methods and weaponry. They learn sinister realities about the history of witchcraft in America as they go through training, as well as who their real enemy is.
