Based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, American Gods is based on Shadow Moon, a man who encounters a stranger by the name of Mr. Wednesday shortly after being released from prison. Three days before his release, Shadow's wife passes away subjecting him to early release of his prison sentence. On his way to his hometown he encounters a man on a plane offering him a job to be his, "bodyguard." American Gods takes place between the battle of the Old Gods and the New Gods. In a world where magic is real, Shadow finds himself between the becoming irrelevant Old Gods and reclaim their power to defend their existence and the New Gods who are gaining power everyday.
