The Strain is a tv series on FX started in 2014. It is based on a novel written by Guillermo del Toro who also serves as the show's primary executive producer. Just as in the novel the story revolves around certain characters as New York City begins to be taken over by vampires. The show even uses flashbacks to the Holocaust to show how the epidemic started. The show has been nominated for 13 various awards and won 2 of those.
