Hannibal is an American psychological horror show created by Bryan Fuller. It originally aired from 2013-15 on NBC. The series is based on a collection of novels by Thomas Harris, including Red Dragon, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising. The show follows FBI special investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his ever-evolving relationship with renowned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen.) Also along for the ride are Will's boss Jack Crawford (Lawrence Fishburne) and the rest of his team in the FBI's Behavioral Sciences unit. The events of Hannibal are a prequel to the well known film (and another Harris novel) The Silence of the Lambs.
Initially recruited to investigate a serial killer in Minnesota, Will is put under psychological supervision by Dr. Lecter, who is fascinated by Will's ability to fully empathize with killers. Lecter, who is secretly a cannibalistic serial killer in his own right, starts to manipulate the FBI from within, all the while driving Will to potentially become a killer himself.
