Black Entertainment Television (BET)'s "Rebel" is an American Drama created by Amani Walker and directed by the Emmy nominated John Singleton. Danielle Mone' Truitt stars as the title character Rebecca "Rebel" Knight. The series centers around Knight a young hard working officer who is known and respected in her community of Oakland, California. When her younger brother is killed at the hands of police Rebel leaves her position and begins work as a private investigator. She perseveres in order to avenge the death of her despite the "crooked cops" discouraging her from achieving justice. Rebel is determined to achieve Justice for all by any means . The series focuses on police brutality and racial tension of modern day America.
