This HBO miniseries directed and produced by Steven Speilberg and Tom Hanks, The Pacific is based on true accounts of the United States Marines during WWII. The show is based on accounts of the brave Marines who fought in the pacific islands against the empire of Japan. Showing the viewers what men in this time period went through and the adversity they faced during their times in war. With actors who looked somewhat like who they portrayed (like Rami Malek and Jon Bernthal) the show makes it a point to be as concise as possible to telling the truest versions of stories as possible viewers.
