Medici: Masters of Florence originally aired in Italy in October 2016, explores the turmoil the Medici family experiences following the death of patriarch Giovanni de' Medici. His son, Cosimo de' Medici, takes over as the leader of the family bank. He also assumes his father's seat in Florence's Signoria. Cosimo must navigate politics, family affairs, and eventually the plague in order to maintain the Medici legacy as the strongest bank in Florence. He has to continually fight to between his strong desire to not be like his father and pursue arts while also finding power in 1429 Florence.
