Akame ga Kill! is a dark fantasy anime that centers around a protagonist named Tatsumi. He travels into the capital city from a poor village after being separated from his trio. His coin is stolen and after resigning himself to spend the night on the streets, he is picked up by a wealthy family. That night, a plot to assassinate that family is carried out by the infamous group called Night Raid, which leaves him alive and manages to recruit him into their ranks. The assassin group is comprised of skilled Imperial Arms users, which are special artifacts made from ancient Danger Beasts. The goal of this group is to bring justice to the nation by killing the prime minister, who is manipulating the child emperor into leaving his nation impoverished and corrupted. This is a story about unexpected alliances, twisted cruelty, and sorrowful ends.
