Black women may have just revived comedy sketch shows. Comediennes Robin Thede, Issa Rae, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson star in a refreshing take on what it means to be funny in an industry dominated by men. A Black Lady Sketch Show, airing on HBO, provides a more sophisticated version of satire; intertwining current topics with their sketches in a more subtle and not in-your-face way. In addition, they have added their own flare of developing a continuing storyline of the end of the world on each episode along with the sketches; unlike any other sketch show before.
