The Missing is an eight-part British drama television series, written by Harry and Jack Williams and directed by Tom Shankland. The series follows Tony (James Nesbitt) a father grieving over the abduction of his son, Oliver on a family vacation in France in 2006. The events of the story are broken up spanning over eight years not in chronological order, with flashback to the abduction and the case that fallowed jumping to the present day in 2014 with the case now closed after having gone cold. Despite the ridicule of others and the demise of his marriage Tony refuses to believe that Oliver may be dead and continues investigating on his own. Eventually Julien (Tcheky Karyo) the now retired French detective who lead the initial search for the child, is convinced to help Tony unable to deny that he too believes that the boy may still be alive. The series first premiered on the BBC in the UK on October 28, 2014 then on Starz in the US on November 15, 2014 with the final episode airing on December 20, 2014.
