The ABC comedy series is based on the memoir, "Fresh Off The Boat" by Eddie Huang. The show premiered on February 4, 2015 with a special two episode premiere. The first of the two preview episodes garnered 7.94 million viewers, becoming the second highest rated comedy premiere this season.The show's prime slot is on Tuesday's at 7 p.m. central time on ABC. So far, four episodes have aired and the show is still in its first season.
Fresh Off The Boat takes place in 1995 where an Asian-American family moves to Orlando, Florida from Washington DC's Chinatown. Eddie's father brought the family to the suburbs to go after the "American Dream" by opening a western-themed restaurant. The show follows the family as they experience major culture shock and do not fit in in Orlando.
