"His Dark Materials," is a TV show that can be found on HBO, a subscription-based platform.. The story was originally published in 1995 as, "The Golden Compass of North America." The show is in a visually captivating world other than ours. Like the original 1995 publishing, many aspects of the show are the same. The story follows the main character, Lyra Belacqua played by Dafne Keen. Lyra is a young girl who's daemon often takes the form of a white ermine. In this world, every human has a daemon from birth that can shift from one animal to another until they "settle" as one animal when a child reaches adulthood. The story follows Lyra through a dangerous world. She learns that trust is dangerous very early on. Her first lesson in trust kicked the show off to a riveting start. She entrusted a woman named Marisa Coulter, played by Ruth Wilson, who was not who she seemed to be. She was much more important than Lyra could have imagined. Protected and sheltered in adolescence, Lyra longed to join the world. Once she was thrust into the world, she found herself in many situations and in many plots with no answer in sight. Lyra never expected she would be as important as she was. The executive producers for this show are Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, Otto Bathurst, Carolyn Blackwood, Joel Collins, Toby Emmerich, Deborah Forte, Julie Gardner, Tom Hooper, Ben Irving, Philip Pullman, Ryan Rasmussen and Jack Thorne.
