The Venture Brothers incorporates old favorites like The Hardy Boys, The Incredible Hulk, Nancy Drew, Batman, Scooby-Doo, and more into an adult animated series exploring a more believable side to the thought of having an arch rival. Rusty was a boy adventurer, (not unlike Johnny Quest), in his youth and went on explorations with his father Jonas. Although being a boy-adventurer was a beloved past time, it turns out that forty-something year-old Dr. "Rusty" Venture really is not cut out for the world of super science. He and his over-enthusiastic son's Hank and Dean tolerate attacks from Dr. Venture's less-than-sinister arch enemy The Monarch who has had it out for Dr. Venture ever since they went to State University together. However, their live-in bodyguard Brock Samson is the stuff of henchman nightmares and has created a reputation for himself throughout the OSI (Office of Secret Intelligence) and the Guild of Calamitous Intent.
