Derry Girls is a Northern Irish sitcom created and written by Lisa McGee. Produced by British production company Hat Trick Productions and starring a predominantly Northern Irish cast, the programme is set in Derry, Northern Ireland, in the 1990s. It premiered on Channel 4 and was renewed for a second series after the airing of its pilot episode. Production of a second series began later that year on 8 October 2018, while the network is in "advanced talks" regarding renewal for a third series. Series two will begin airing in March 2019.
